The Goods and Services Tax (GST) is an indirect tax that was introduced in India to replace a number of other indirect taxes, provide a unified tax system for easier administration, and boost process efficiency. Today, companies having an annual revenue of Rs. 40 lakh and higher must register for the new GST. Businesses in the North East and Hill states that generate more than Rs. 10 Lakh in income annually are required to register. The GSTIN registration procedure is not too complicated and may be finished in about two to six working days. In order to properly complete their GST registration process, applicants must provide certain papers. Nevertheless, depending on whether an individual or a business is requesting the registration, different paperwork is required. A GST-eligible person or business must pay penalty fees if they fail to pay taxes, either in full or in part. The person or company in question must pay 10% of the entire tax if the payment error was real, that is, unintentional. This is only relevant, though, if the whole tax burden exceeds Rs. 1 lakh.
